About our facilities

Photo of a Facility's dining roomWe at The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus strive always for best industry practice throughout our network of services in NSW, ACT and Qld, which include independent living units, low and high care facilities as well as community care packages.

We have an extensive and ongoing rebuilding program, continually modernising and purpose-designing facilities. Most importantly, time and time again we are congratulated for our level of care, for that special feeling within our centres that makes our facilities places of joy, creativity, friendship and, most importantly, truly ‘home’ for our residents.

Features of our facilities include:

  • Spiritual care - because the provision of emotional and spiritual care is such an integral part of The Salvation Army, each of our centres has chaplaincy staff who work to help keep residents linked to their local faith community. Our chaplains also run Bible studies, worship services and offer counselling and care.
  • Quality staff - we are committed to ongoing staff training and accreditation. Staff in hostels, nursing homes and with respite care are continuously on call to provide assistance, meals, and basic accommodation-related services such as laundry, towels, washers, toiletries, cleaning services and maintenance of buildings and grounds. • Medical services - all residents have access to a local doctor as well as medical specialists by referral.  In high care centres we provide such services as physiotherapy and podiatry. Assistance with transport for our residents to access outside medical services is available as required.
  • Nutrition - our meals are nutritious and varied. We cater to special dietary requirements.
  • Recreation & wellness - research shows that ‘wellness’ in older persons is improved Photo of an elderly man playing indoor bowlsor maintained with activity, exercise and social support. We run programs that aim to maintain well residents at active levels, and family and friend support is strongly encouraged. This may include exercise programs such as gentle exercise or Pilates, recreational activities such as indoor bowls, knitting or sewing workshops, educational activities such as art and craft classes, creativity therapy groups such as music and aromatherapy, and community activities.

In addition to our aged care facilities, The Salvation Army runs a network of seniors clubs through local Salvation Army corps (churches). This ensures that senior people in the community can access fellowship and fun through recreational activities.
