Our mission and history

Save souls, grow saints and serve the suffering humanity.

For over 125 years, The Salvation Army has endeavored to be there when and where we are needed most. This has involved working with the oldest and youngest members of our community, families in need, those who are homeless or caught in addiction, and lending a hand in natural disasters and to support emergency and defence services.

History
From our inception, we have offered care to our aged. We opened our first specific aged care centre in Victoria during 1899. Even before opening the first Salvation Army aged care facilities in NSW (Collaroy) and Qld (Red Hill) during 1911, The Salvation Army was providing accommodation for the older members of our community in greatest need through a variety of ‘rescue homes’.

At The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus, we aim to provide the highest possible standard of care, keeping in mind the personal needs and individuality of each resident, in all of our aged care facilities. This involves recognising freedom of choice regarding health care, living environment, religion and social and recreational activities.
