Petting Zoo at Burrangiri Aged Care Plus Respite Centre
In celebration of Seniors Week 2018, Burrangiri Aged Care Plus Respite Centre held a Petting Zoo day for elderly members of the Rivett community.
Facilitated by Noah's Ark Farm Friend's Petting Zoo, the day attracted over 35 elderly residents, clients, members from the Rivett community who were thoroughly entertained by a variety of farm animals.
Ashley Carrington, Day Coordinator at Burrangiri Aged Care Plus Respite Centre, said that staff also took advantage of the opportunity to work together, and raise funds for the Respite Centre, Ashley said.
"We also had tables for market stalls, which displayed plants, a baked slice, blankets knitted by clients, donated jewellery and white elephant items, and money raised went back into the Centre. Everyone helped in their own way from cooking the BBQ right through to assisting clients when holding the animals."
Kath Jones, a client of Burrangiri Aged Care Plus Respite Centre of over ten years, thoroughly enjoyed the event.
"Excellent, wonderful. The people who came with the animals were fantastic, the animals were very friendly and well trained. It was a perfect day, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more," Kath said.
Overall, Ashely said that staff were pleased with the outcome of the event.
"The Petting Zoo event was a massive success for clients, staff, family members and for the members of the public who attended. We can't wait to do it again. Thank you to each person who helped make this day possible for our clients and loved ones."
