Shaftesbury Court Retirement Village offers cosy and affordable rental units. The Village is set within a solid brick residence that feels welcoming, homely and genuinely social - the kind of place where neighbours know your name.
Located in the vibrant suburb of Burwood in Sydney's inner-west, we're just a stroll away from Burwood's restaurants, shops and local amenities, whilst also being tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Over time, we’ve built strong connections within the local community, with nearby businesses and locals familiar with our residents and Village Manager.
Note: No Apartments Available Right Now. If you’d like to be added to our waitlist, please get in touch with our friendly village team.
The Village offers a total of 37 studio and one-bedroom apartments, designed for comfortable and independent retirement living. Each apartment includes ceiling fan, stovetop and oven, built-in cupboards and storage, elevator access, and an emergency call system for peace of mind. All apartments feature a private balcony, with top-floor residences enjoying city and suburban views.
Village Manager is available to assist with day-to-day queries and maintenance needs, helping ensure the village runs smoothly and residents feel supported.
Shaftesbury Court is a friendly, community-focused village, where residents often look out for one another and organise informal social catch-ups and activities. We also enjoy coming together for monthly birthday celebrations, creating regular moments of connection.
As part of The Salvation Army Aged Care, residents can access Salvos Home Care NSW services if additional support is needed. These services can be arranged in consultation with the Village Manager and Salvos Home Care team, making it easier to organise help when required.
"At Shaftesbury, we are a friendly, welcoming and inclusive community. Our residents have the freedom to live as they want in a safe environment, and it's much easier for them because we take care of all the day-to-day and maintenance. We're also very lucky to have a surrounding local community that help our residents."
Shujuan (Sue) Li is our Village Manager and has been working at The Salvation Army Aged Care for 23 years and has a wealth of expertise across aged care.
The Salvation Army Aged Care acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet and work and pay our respect to Elders past, present and future.
