Welcome

Bethesda Aged Care Centre offers a homelike environment with a strong sense of community. Centrally located, we are close to Rockhampton CBD, hospitals and local services. This single-level residence has leafy gardens, is surrounded by tropical north Queensland greenery and offers a birds-eye view of the city.

Our Centre is managed by a team of professionals who go beyond the clinical to make certain that residents feel comfortable, safe and loved. Providing all the comforts of home, personalised care, health and wellbeing programs and a wide range of amenities, we pride ourselves on helping residents live their best lives. We recognise the importance of family and friends to residents' wellbeing and encourage them to be an active part of our community.

Our Services

Bethesda Aged Care Centre provides 24-hour permanent care and respite (short-term) care. We also offer eligible residents in-house NDIS services.

Residents trust that they are in good hands with our care team of fully qualified and committed individuals who share The Salvation Army values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration. We have a person-centred approach to all the care that we provide.

Our staff and Chaplain go beyond the clinical to cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of residents.

Each staff member has undergone reference and security checks to ensure they are fully qualified, experienced and are passionate about working in the aged care sector. Our staff undergo ongoing training as well to make sure they are up to speed with the latest processes and knowledge. Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diversity are other key factors that we take into consideration when recruiting staff into our Centre community.

We offer a range of single rooms with private or shared bathrooms. All rooms are fully furnished and have a 24-hour emergency call system for added peace of mind. Other features include:

This is your home, you are most welcome to bring in your own favourite items - photos, mementos and accessories to dress the room to your own taste and preferences. *

*All items must meet the Centre's work, health and safety guidelines.

Meals are cooked daily onsite by a qualified chef in consultation with the dietitian. The menu is regularly rotated to promote choice and take advantage of what is in season. Each meal has a selection of high protein, vegetarian and modified options. We also cater for special dietary and cultural requirements.

The Centre has a dedicated Lifestyle team that organises daily activities, 7 days a week, based on residents' suggestions and preferences. These include regular bus trips and outings, music therapy, visiting entertainers, celebrations, games, gardening, cooking, pamper sessions, collaborations with volunteer groups and more.

We offer:

Interactive exercise group with a physiotherapist, twice each week
Fortnightly hairdresser visits at our onsite salon
Centre bus for resident outings and trips - residents love visiting neighbouring Yeppoon!
Raised garden beds - residents regularly take part in gardening projects and lovingly maintain the Centre's gardens
Mobile library supplied by Rockhampton library
Recreational room for individual and/or group activities
Landscaped courtyard with water fountain for relaxation and quiet time

Scheduled visits from the local GP and other Allied Health services as needed for permanent residents, including physiotherapist, podiatrist, audiologist, optometrist and speech pathologist.

GP visits and physiotherapy are available to respite residents, depending on their needs and respite stay schedule.

We have a holistic model of care and the Centre Chaplains play an important role in bringing this to life. We have a chapel on site, with chapel services held twice a week. Whatever your beliefs, our Chaplains are here to assist in your spiritual and emotional journey, if you wish - because we don't have clients, only family.

My mother relocated from a self managed unit to aged care at Bethesda, Rockhampton. After inspecting several age care facilities in Rockhampton, my wife and I selected Bethesda because of the size of the rooms and the support staff who provide care for residents and their families. An example of this was when my mum was taken for an excursion by my sister. I had planned to see my mum at 11am but she had not returned from this excursion. The Centre called to alert me that Mum was still away and not to visit at that time. This is one of the many examples. I am very appreciative. Staff are very supportive and phone me often to provide updates about Mum.
