Each staff member has undergone reference and security checks to ensure they are fully qualified, experienced and are passionate about working in the aged care sector with special regard for those who are disadvantaged and have complex needs. Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diversity are other key factors in recruiting our people.

Food plays a huge role in maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle so we take great care in ensuring that our food is exceptional. Meals are cooked daily onsite by a qualified chef in consultation with the dietitian, residents and their families. The menu is rotated regularly to promote choice and take advantage of what is in season. Each meal has a selection of high protein, vegetarian and modified options. We also cater for special dietary and cultural requirements. 

Individual nutrition programs can also be organised as required.

We take fun quite seriously! The Centre has a dedicated Lifestyle Team that organises daily activities based on the suggestions of residents, including outings, celebrations, trivia, cooking, singing, walks, games, Chapel services and much more.

James Barker House has raised vegetable garden beds and beautiful gardens which our residents lovingly help to maintain and we have plenty of outdoor areas where our residents can spend time doing activities or just unwind.

Chickens, a very chatty cockatoo, and two cuddly cats, are also all part of the family. 

Scheduled visits from the local GP and other Allied Health services as needed, including physiotherapist, podiatrist, speech therapist, audiologist, optometrist and occupational therapist. 

The Centre Chaplains play an important role in bringing our holistic model of care to life. Whatever the individual's beliefs, our Chaplains are here to assist them and their families in their spiritual and emotional journey, if they wish.
