Nurses Recognised for Their Contributions
The World Health Organisation declared 2020 to be the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife. We have a nursing team across our services and centres all worthy of recognition and appreciation. Given how 2020 has certainly had us focused on the importance of nursing, we thought that we would celebrate by seeking nominations for exemplary nurses who clearly demonstrate high standards of care, leadership and emotional intelligence.
One person within Community Care and one person within Residential Services will receive The Salvation Army Aged Care 2020 Year of the Nurse Award who we believe best demonstrate these attributes and the Mission and Values of The Salvation Army. Another four nominated individuals will receive a Certificate of Recognition for their contribution to our work. We are pleased to announce this in celebration of International Nurses Day today.
The Salvation Army Aged Care 2020 Year of the Nurse Award
Residential Aged Care: Srijana Paudel is a Registered Nurse at Gill Waminda Aged Care Centre. She was nominated for her clinical excellence promoting best practice and active leadership in clinical reviews, staff engagement and evidence-based approach. Her solid background in Dementia Care is evident in the high standard of care she provides. Her professionalism is contagious at each time she steps up to the role of acting manager.
Community Care: Omar Al-Safadi is a Clinical & Retirement Living Coordinator. Omar was nominated for his holistic, consumer needs approach that enabled more than just clinical support but most notably a multi-prong strategy that addresses each person’s physical needs and underlying issue of social isolation and its impact on psychological and mental health.
