Welcome

Located in the beautiful town of Mossman, Kubirri Aged Care Centre provides the best of both worlds. The single-level Centre has a tranquil backdrop of the Mossman River, with views of the rainforest and surrounding greenery, whilst being only a couple of minutes away from the Mossman town centre, hospital and local attractions including the beautiful Mossman Gorge.

The Centre has been designed in consultation with the community and industry experts, making it perfect for aged care in the tropics including spacious rooms and communal areas (indoor and outdoor), modern design, expansive gardens and wide corridors. Our Centre offers a modern, warm and inviting atmosphere that gives our residents a good mix of privacy as well as several indoor and outdoor communal areas to help them stay connected and feel included. The design also leads the way with sustainable design to minimise our environmental footprint. 

At Kubirri Aged Care Centre, we are an inclusive community and acknowledge our residents have led rich lives and strive to promote a culture of choice through our services and amenities. Our Lifestyle team organise a dynamic program and try to create as many opportunities as possible to help our residents be active and live their best life, where in which they can participate as much as they wish. We have a dedicated team of nurses and care staff, and our management team are always accessible and onsite, willing to help our residents in whatever way they can.

Our staff and residents are like family and we have strong ties with the local community. Our residents and staff often partake in many community events and projects, and over time we have built a credible reputation as an organisation that genuinely cares for others in need without discrimination. We also recognise the importance of family, friends and the local community and welcome them to be an active part of our family.

Our Services

Kubirri Aged Care Centre offers permanent residential care including dementia care and palliative care; and respite (short-term) care. We also offer all eligible residents NDIS services with in-house NDIS support coordination and staff.

We adopt a person-centred care approach and can create personalised programs or introduce new programs in addition to our existing ones when necessary. Our staff and Chaplains go beyond the clinical needs to cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of our residents. Residents trust that they are in good hands with our care team of fully qualified and committed individuals who share values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration.

Each staff member has undergone reference and security checks to ensure they are fully qualified, experienced and are passionate about working in the aged care sector. Our staff undergo ongoing training as well to make sure they are up to speed with the latest processes and knowledge. Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diversity are other key factors that we take into consideration when recruiting staff into our Centre community.

Our rooms have private ensuite facilities and external views of the surrounding rainforest and natural landscape. Each room has:

  • 24-hour emergency call system
  • Telephone, WiFi and TV connections are available
  • Built-in cupboards
  • Air conditioning and fans
  • Electronically adjustable beds (add this is your home sentence after)

This is your home, you are most welcome to bring in your own favourite items - photos, mementos and accessories to dress the room to your own taste and preferences. *

*All items must meet the Centre's work, health and safety guidelines. 

Our approach to dementia care is led by each resident’s interests, feelings and emotions. We respect the rich lives they have led by tailoring our care based on their personal history in a dedicated dementia-friendly environment as environment can have a big impact on quality of life. 

Meals are cooked daily onsite by a qualified chef in consultation with the dietitian. The menu is regularly rotated to promote choice and take advantage of what is in season. Each meal has a selection of high protein, vegetarian and modified options. We also cater for special dietary and cultural requirements. 

Nutrition programs can also be organised as required.

We take fun quite seriously! The Centre has a dedicated Lifestyle team that organises daily activities based on the suggestions of residents via resident meetings, including outings, ukulele group, community jam sessions, art therapy, visiting entertainers, karaoke, gardening, crafts, community projects and many more. We’re big on music, dancing and having a good time! Our Lifestyle team also organise fun exercise activities to keep our residents active such as our walking group.

  • Plenty of outdoor living spaces and landscaped gardens with gazebos
  • Visitors’ lounge

Scheduled visits from the local GP and other Allied Health services as needed, including physiotherapist, podiatrist, speech therapist and audiologist.

We have a holistic model of care. The Centre Chaplains play an important role in bringing this to life. We also have a chapel onsite. Whatever your beliefs, our Chaplains are here to assist in your spiritual and emotional journey, if you wish - because we don't have clients, only family.
