Welcome

Mountain View Aged Care Centre offers a cosy and vibrant home with a strong sense of community and is managed by a team of professionals who go beyond the clinical to ensure that residents feel comfortable, safe and loved.

Our single-level residence has beautiful landscaped gardens and courtyards and is surrounded by mountain and suburban views. The Centre has been designed with residents’ convenience, security and belonging in mind with plenty of natural lighting, spacious rooms, many outdoor areas, wide corridors and homely décor. Our dining room is colourful and communal and is the prime spot to see our beautiful mountain surroundings. We also have a unique glass walled walkway in one part of the Centre, near our chapel, that looks out upon our onsite pond with fish and aquatic wildlife.

The Centre is located just minutes away from public transport, Canberra CBD, Woden Westfield, Manuka and local health services.

We recognise the importance of family and friends to our residents' wellbeing and encourage them to be an active part of our community. We work closely with the local community and over time we have built a credible reputation as an organisation that genuinely cares for others in need without discrimination.

Our Services

Holistic care that's all about you. Mountain View Aged Care Centre offers permanent residential care including dementia care and palliative care; and respite (short-term) care. We are well known for our palliative care by our industry peers and also offer eligible residents in-house NDIS services.

Our residents are in good hands with our care team of fully qualified and committed individuals who share The Salvation Army values of integrity, compassion, respect, diversity and collaboration.

We adopt a person-centred approach to all the care that we provide. Our staff and Chaplain cater for the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of our residents.

Each staff member has undergone reference and security checks to ensure they are fully qualified, experienced and are passionate about working in the aged care sector. Our staff undergo ongoing training as well to make sure they are up to speed with the latest processes and knowledge. Emotional intelligence and sensitivity to diversity are other key factors that we take into consideration when recruiting staff into our Centre community.

Mountain View Aged Care Centre offers single rooms, all with private ensuites. All rooms have bay windows and sliding glass doors providing convenient access to our gardens, and all bathrooms have angled ceilings and skylights allowing in plenty of natural light.

Each room has:

  • 24-hour emergency call system
  • Telephone and TV connection available
  • Built-in cupboards
  • Electronically adjustable beds and bedside table

This is your home, you are most welcome to bring in your own favourite items - photos, mementos and accessories to dress the room to your own taste and preferences.*

*All items must meet the Centre's work, health and safety guidelines.

Our approach to dementia care is led by each resident’s interests, feelings and emotions. We respect the rich lives they have led by tailoring our care based on their personal history in a dedicated dementia-friendly environment.

Meals are cooked daily onsite by a qualified chef in consultation with the dietitian. The menu is regularly rotated to promote choice and take advantage of what is in season. Each meal has a selection of high protein, vegetarian and modified options. We also cater for special dietary and cultural requirements.

Nutrition programs can also be organised as required.

We take fun quite seriously! The Centre has a dedicated Lifestyle team that organises daily activities based on the suggestions of residents via resident meetings including animal therapy, regular visiting entertainers, bus trips, shopping trips, gardening, painting, celebrations, music activities and collaborations with local schools.

We offer:

  • Onsite hairdressing salon with hairdresser visiting 4 times a week
  • Theatre and recreational room
  • Books and DVDs delivered to residents from local library
  • Exercise area
  • Centre bus

We have a twice weekly physiotherapy falls prevention class, walking groups and a podiatry and massage room when needed to uphold our residents' physical wellbeing. Additionally, our Lifestyle team incorporates exercise into their activities a few times a week.

Scheduled visits from the local GP and other Allied Health services as needed, including physiotherapist, podiatrist, occupational therapist and optometrist.

We have a holistic model of care. The Centre Chaplains play an important role in bringing this to life. We also have a chapel onsite. Whatever your beliefs, our Chaplains are here to assist in your spiritual and emotional journey, if you wish - because we don't have clients, only family.
