My wife and I moved into the village about three years ago. We did look at a few villages but then decided on Macquarie Lodge. I think the deciding factors were the provider "The Salvation Army" and the location. Also, the building is new and not too overcrowded (only 54 units). Initially it was very strange for us to move into a different environment. However, after introductions with the other residents and staff, we started feeling at home. There are lots of social activities and we have no hesitation in recommending the village to others. 

My husband and I moved in initially because we were impressed with the buildings, they were well built and the units are spacious. It is probably one of the smaller villages and that suited us. It was the first time I had ever moved and I have never felt more at home, the staff here are very caring and are always available to the residents with their many requests. There are birthdays, shopping trips, crafts and games, which I enjoy. 

We have been residents of Macquarie Lodge for 4 years. Our original quest to seek a home at a retirement village began 2 years earlier when we decided to change our lifestyle for a more community-based existence.

During that time we inspected a number of established villages and some which were being constructed. There were many differences between the villages, how they were managed, maintained and the lifestyle they offered.

The main considerations for us were; location, size of the units being offered, amenities, transport and ongoing costs. Macquarie Lodge gave us these benefits and the added benefit of an Aged Care facility on the same site which offers the possibility of further care if required.

There are community events including monthly morning tea, birthday "get­ togethers" and a residents’ bus for weekly shopping trips and outings organised by the residents' social committee. There is a book and DVD exchange library, community areas for private social gatherings to include residents' family and friends and recreational areas which include facilities for tea/coffee making etc.

We recommend Macquarie Lodge to anyone seeking a rewarding lifestyle in retirement.
